Greetings, Alumni Members!
Psi Phi has planned a Reunion celebration, commemorating ten years as a club at Bradley University. The Reunion's main events will take place on Saturday, September 18; there will be additional events from Friday through Sunday, for those who are able to stay longer.
In preparation for the Reunion, even if you are unable to attend, please look over the following:
We're working to put together a scrapbook of Psi Phi's history. In particular, we'd like to include stories about memorable events, your favorite or funniest moment, or whatever Psi Phi-related you want to write about. We'd also like to include physical items, such as photographs, flyers, posters, etc. that are from or about Psi Phi.
If you have any such items that you are willing to donate back to the club, or if you'd like to submit a story, anecdote, or other piece of writing about the club, please contact David Henderson, who will be coördinating the scrapbook.
We plan on selling T-shirts at the Reunion. A separate mailing will be sent out soon to narrow down the final design from a variety of design ideas we've come up with.
Once the design is finalized, a request for orders will also be sent out. Most likely, M, L, and XL shirts will be $8, XXL will be $10, and XXXL will be $11, based on previous T-shirt orders, though the official pricing information will be included in the order mailing.
For those who cannot attend the Reunion, the shirts will also be made available through the mail afterward.
One of the ideas we've had for the Reunion is to have a talent show, where those Psi Phi alumni who want to tell jokes, sing Klingon opera, act (rehearsed or improvised), juggle, give readings from stories or poems they've written, show a collection of hand-knitted sweaters with Mark Hamill's face, play a musical instrument, show off sculptures or paintings, or even juggle Hamill sweaters while joking about Klingon opera, may do so.
But we need to know who might be interested in performing in order to figure out how much time will be needed and what equipment (microphones, for example) might be needed. If you would like to perform, or even if you're considering it, please contact David Henderson, who will work with the Reunion Committee to handle scheduling.
The exact details are still being worked out, but here are the basics.
For those who arrive in town early, there will be an informal gathering at Steak 'n' Shake% on Friday evening. This will be buy-your-own. This is tentatively set to begin around 7:00pm, but there will be a Psi Phi presence there for quite a while, so if you get in later, go ahead and stop by.
Lunch will be at Culver's*, which has become a Psi Phi tradition since the restaurant opened last year. This will also be buy-your-own.
During the day, various fun events are being planned. One which could be a lot of fun is the Talent Show, or for some people, the "Talent" Show. :-) If you can sing or tell jokes; if you have writings you'd like to read or perform; if you have paintings, sculptures, or other artwork you'd like to show; or if you have other unique talents you think we might like to see, you can do that here.
Various games, such as "The Lord of the Rings" Trivial Pursuit, "The Simpsons" Chess, and Munchkin, will be played.
Lounge areas, where you can catch up with old friends or meet Psi Phi members from other generations, will be available throughout the day.
The main event: Saturday evening we will have dinner in the Geisert cafeteria. But no, it won't actually be cafeteria food! We're still planning the menu, but the club will be covering the cost of the food. We will also be holding a meeting, which will include a look back at the past ten years, how the club has grown and changed, and what both the club and the alumni have been up to.
For those who can stay, there will be more gaming, the lounge areas will still be open, and if we run out of time on Saturday, the Talent Show will continue today. There will probably also be additional events, TBA.
