Psi Phi Org has entered the room.
level12alien has entered the room.
RayKremer8374 has entered the room.
OCN InHouseGeek has entered the room.
X1M43 has entered the room.
Psi Phi Org: Hello all.
X1M43: Greetings. Some of you I don't recognize. Who are you?
OCN InHouseGeek: I am CJ
Psi Phi Org: We should have a few more coming.
X1M43: Yes, yes. Good. I am Don.
level12alien: I'm Jay.. one of the "founders"
X1M43: Pleased to meet you.
level12alien: Likewise!
OCN InHouseGeek: I escaped from bradley last may
X1M43: How's the real world treating you?
Psi Phi Org: And everybody knows me. In the words of Kosh, "I have always been here."
Psi Phi Org: :-)
RayKremer8374: heh
OCN InHouseGeek: I enjoy having a press pass :P
X1M43: Cool.
Psi Phi Org: While we're waiting for others to arrive, have you all read last week's chat?
X1M43: I have.
X1M43: T'was interesting and punny.
OCN InHouseGeek: I saw them
level12alien: So did I...
RayKremer8374: yep
Psi Phi Org: Too bad Kenny can't be here himself. :-)
X1M43: Indeed. Does he even have AIM?
RayKremer8374: agreed
Psi Phi Org: Yes, he does.
Psi Phi Org: GoofyNerdK
RayKremer8374: AIM comes built in with everything these days
Psi Phi Org: But he's not on-line right now.
OCN InHouseGeek: last time I emailed him was back in october
level12alien: I like many of the ideas I read from last week!
X1M43: As do I.
RayKremer8374: We need something better for the tshirts than "combine previous tshirt phrases into something incoherent".
Psi Phi Org: You don't think "Hug me, I'm better than Greek" is appropriate? :-)
X1M43: That, too, is true. I like Anti-Joel's suggestion: "10 years and we still can't come up with a decent slogan."
RayKremer8374: To many in-joke levels deep
Psi Phi Org: True.
OCN InHouseGeek: but in-jokes are fun
Psi Phi Org: Of course, I still like our very first slogan, "Science Fiction's Last, Best Hope".
X1M43: Actually, bringing that very first slogan back for the reunion isn't a bad idea either.
RayKremer8374: Speaking of tshirts, please have whoever let me know about pricesand stuff when you guys sort out this year's shirts. I'll probably wantone and I'm sure several of the Purdue Sci-Fi club folks will want oneagain too.
level12alien: It should be something that stands out, something people will remember!
Psi Phi Org: Ryan and Eric (Xeen), I think, were planning to visit the T-shirt shop today to see if they had designs ready.
RayKremer8374: "10 years of being Science Fiction's last best hope"?
level12alien: I like it...
OCN InHouseGeek: could the shirt have the stardate of the reunion on it
Psi Phi Org: Ooh.
X1M43: Something along those lines might work. I also like "It's Continuing Mission..."
RayKremer8374: The reunion is the 10 year anniversary of the club right? I think I heard that.
X1M43: I believe so.
level12alien: yep..
Psi Phi Org: Mixing the B5-ish slogan with a Trek-ish date.
RayKremer8374: "It's continuing mission..." for one side
RayKremer8374: last best hope for the other side
RayKremer8374: Its not it's :-[
X1M43: You're right. As an English major, I blame myself.
level12alien: maybe it's 10 year continuing mission? I do like the idea of commemorating the anniversary somehow on the shirt...
RayKremer8374: I'm usually such a stickler about those myself
Psi Phi Org: Unfortunately I can't find the exact date of the founding in the records. September 13 is when the Constitution was signed, which I suppose is the most official date.
RayKremer8374: There you go.
X1M43: It will have to do.
Psi Phi Org: "1994-2004"
level12alien: that sounds about right..
RayKremer8374: "Its 10 year continuing mission..." = front
Psi Phi Org: "Its continuing mission..."
RayKremer8374: "10 years of being Science Fiction's last best hope" = back
Psi Phi Org: Or "10 years as Sci(etc.)
Psi Phi Org: "
level12alien: any of those sound good to me...
X1M43: "10 year continuing mission..." doesn't work for me. I mean, it's either a 10-year mission or a continuing one...
Psi Phi Org: How about "Ten years and counting (new line) Its continuing mission..." ?
RayKremer8374: "10 years and running" isn't a trek pun tough
X1M43: That's good.
X1M43: That's true though.
OCN InHouseGeek: how many redshirts die per year in the star trek universe?
Psi Phi Org: <carlsagan>Billions and billions</carlsagan>
level12alien: Do you still want some sort of stardate of the event?
Psi Phi Org: 2004.09.13 or something like that.
Psi Phi Org: (Except 9/13 is a Monday)
RayKremer8374: According to something google found:
RayKremer8374: Of the 53 enterprise crewmen who died, 25 of them were wearing a redshirt. That's a 47 percent death rate for red shirts!
RayKremer8374: And that's notcounting three red shirts who died in "Mirror, Mirror" that weretechnically under the command of the alternate Kirk.
Psi Phi Org: :-)
X1M43: Wow. 47-that's pretty key.
RayKremer8374: ... so AIM eats my spaces if I wrap text to a second line in my entry areas?
Psi Phi Org: Of course, that statistic doesn't account for how many redshirts were on the Enterprise.
level12alien: too bad it's not 42...
Psi Phi Org: 47 is important to Trek.
level12alien: good point!
Psi Phi Org: In almost any countdown, shields will be at 47%, or there will be a hit on deck 7 section D, or there will be 740 colonists trapped, etc.
RayKremer8374: 25, that's only like one half per episode. Wow
OCN InHouseGeek: or 47 times shatner overacts per episode
level12alien: =-O
Psi Phi Org: 5/16, or 0.3125 redshirts per episode.
RayKremer8374: why ... whatever ... could ... you mean?
RayKremer8374: Spock! What ... does ... he mean ... by that?
X1M43: KAAAHHNNNNN!!!!!!
Psi Phi Org: Fascinating, Captain, and logical, too.
RayKremer8374: You know I never bought into that 47 thing. With all the numbersthey throw around on trek you could probably pick any number and findit all the time.
X1M43: Hmm. Never thought of that.
Psi Phi Org: Except that the 47s were intentional.
Psi Phi Org: Producer Joe Menosky threw them into each of the episodes he wrote, and over time, some of the other writers followed suit.
level12alien: I know some other shows do that sort of thing intentionally.. such as Alias...
X1M43: What do they use?
RayKremer8374: Ah. Well if some guy in the show says they did it, okay then.
RayKremer8374: ReBoot almost always worked the episode production number into the script somehow
level12alien: Alias uses the number 47.. in just about every episode!
Psi Phi Org: From Brannon Braga: "The use of 47 in Star Trek was started by Joe Menosky about five years ago. He explained 47's magical quality to me at the time, and I was amazed to see that he was right...
Psi Phi Org: "I, too, started to see 47s all over the place. Since then, I put the number into every script I write. I passed on 47's powers to [producer] Ron Moore. He now puts it into all of his scripts...
Psi Phi Org: "It's even in 'Generations' a couple of times (one for each of us, since Ron and I wrote it together)."
Xeen the Paladin has entered the room.
Psi Phi Org: Hello.
Xeen the Paladin: Avast and yo!
X1M43: Ah, vilkommen.
Psi Phi Org: We've been discussing the magical powers of the forty-seven.
Psi Phi Org: Also T-shirt ideas.
Xeen the Paladin: 47? I'm more fond of 42
hawkeyeop1 has entered the room.
X1M43: Yes, but 47 has a long history as well.
hawkeyeop1: hello all
X1M43: Greetings.
Psi Phi Org: And here's Joelish.
OCN InHouseGeek: hi ish
hawkeyeop1: bah
hawkeyeop1: who is everyone here?
Xeen the Paladin: Btw, the T-Shirt place closed at 2, we still haven't submitted the order
Psi Phi Org: Alas.
Xeen the Paladin: We'll take care of that monday
X1M43: Bloody hell.
Psi Phi Org: Very good.
hawkeyeop1: any monday in particular..
Psi Phi Org: Hopefully 2/9.
Psi Phi Org: /2004.
X1M43: I am Don.
Xeen the Paladin: oh har har, the monday between no and Valentine's, good enough?
Xeen the Paladin: now
RayKremer8374: If you give me prices on those, I can get a few more orders for you on Tuesday night from the sci-fi club here at Purdue
hawkeyeop1: so what has been discussed?
X1M43: They're fairly cheap. I think they run about eight bucks max.
X1M43: Though I could be wrong.
Psi Phi Org: Also, be sure to notify the mailing list so that others who haven't been to meetings can place their orders, too.
level12alien: sure.. I'll take one...
RayKremer8374: Yeah, don't have them make up the shirts until everybody's had a chance to say they want one.
hawkeyeop1: we always get extras too
Psi Phi Org: Where is the bump in price at? Is it that XXL is $2 more and XXXL is $3 more?
X1M43: I thought XXL was only a dollar more.
hawkeyeop1: that was what it was when i did them
X1M43: Or was it that XL was a dollar more?
hawkeyeop1: it was $2
X1M43: I'm so confused?
X1M43: !
hawkeyeop1: for XXL
hawkeyeop1: XL was regular price
hawkeyeop1: but this was 2 years ago...
Psi Phi Org: Was it the same place (A Cute Tee)?
hawkeyeop1: yes
X1M43: Do they have a website?
Xeen the Paladin: Urgh, e-mail me with additional orders and I'll add them to my handy dandy spreadsheet
RayKremer8374: What's your e-mail ady then?
Xeen the Paladin: [Removed] or [Removed]
Xeen the Paladin: oops, [Removed]
OCN InHouseGeek: bad shirt idea "I went to (A Cute Tee) and all I got was this shirt instead of the one I ordered" lol
hawkeyeop1: yes bad idea
X1M43: Quite so.
Xeen the Paladin: I don't think they'd like that
Psi Phi Org: I'll take the E-mail addresses out of the saved chat transcript so as to avoid spambots from finding you.
RayKremer8374: And it's $8 s/m/l plus a couple bucks for xl/xxl?
Psi Phi Org: xl is still $8.
Psi Phi Org: xxl is $10
Psi Phi Org: xxxl is $11.
RayKremer8374: and the choices are "<geek></geek>" and "Current score: Bablyon 5, Deep Space 9", right?
hawkeyeop1: yup
X1M43: It would seem so.
RayKremer8374: okay, I'll collect orders on Tuesday night and you can pop them in to mail to me whenever you get them
Xeen the Paladin: Thank you dave, very nice of you
Psi Phi Org: And of course you can get one of each. Or two of each. Or three of one and eleven of the other! :-)
X1M43: Or four of one and seven of the other.
OCN InHouseGeek: how about 47 of each
Psi Phi Org: Ooh, I can see another price break!
Xeen the Paladin: and all real numbers known to man
X1M43: And a few irrational numbers to boot.
Psi Phi Org: Let's get pi shirts.
OCN InHouseGeek: well kenny would want an irrational number of shirts
hawkeyeop1: NOOOOOOOOOOO
X1M43: It begins...
Xeen the Paladin: nah, don't want to deal with i numbers
hawkeyeop1: you ask for i number you get i shirts
RayKremer8374: front "area of circle = pi r^2"
RayKremer8374: back " but everyone knows pies are round"
Xeen the Paladin: could we have complex shirts?
level12alien: I like pie...
RayKremer8374: Oh hey, automatic superscript in AIM, cool
Xeen the Paladin: The pie is also evil
X1M43: Eh? I'm not seeing superscript.
Psi Phi Org: Me neither.
RayKremer8374: It did on my screen, how odd
Xeen the Paladin: you are very odd
hawkeyeop1 has left the room.
RayKremer8374: I won't deny that
Xeen the Paladin: or possibly a lier
X1M43: One Joel leaves, let's invite the other one.
Xeen the Paladin: lyer? how the heck do I spell that?
RayKremer8374: liar
hawkeyeop1 has entered the room.
X1M43: Liar.
Xeen the Paladin: there we go
Psi Phi Org: I asked... he's busy right now.
RayKremer8374: :-D
Psi Phi Org: (Joel O.)
Psi Phi Org: Well, we seem to be running out of T-shirt stuff to talk about. We could move on to another topic.
X1M43: Very well. What's next on the agenda?
Psi Phi Org: Talent show. Does anybody here have any talent? :-)
X1M43: Eh, I've got a poem about blueberry muffins.
Xeen the Paladin: I can whomp all of you in Advance Wars
hawkeyeop1: nontalent show?
level12alien: How about a gong show? I have a gong!
Xeen the Paladin: And possibly Warcraft
Psi Phi Org: Gong Show!
hawkeyeop1: noreport contest...
Psi Phi Org: Excellent idea!
X1M43: A gong? Brilliant!
Psi Phi Org: Bang a gong, the battle is ovah!
Psi Phi Org: Also, Psi Phi scrapbook.
Psi Phi Org: Does anyone here have photographs of their time in Psi Phi?
Xeen the Paladin: shall we start assembling Photos?
Xeen the Paladin: I have a few
X1M43: I know photos have been taken, but I don't possess them.
level12alien: Well, it's 4:47 and I have to split right now... it was nice meeting all of you! Keep me posted!
RayKremer8374: I don't recall seeing many people ringing cameras to meetings
Psi Phi Org: Alright, ttyl!
Xeen the Paladin: who are you?
RayKremer8374: what do you want?
level12alien: Jay.. one of the "founders"!
Xeen the Paladin: Ah, ok then, good to know
OCN InHouseGeek: I have some photos of kenny and joel from my days of torturing them with my photo assignments
hawkeyeop1: ah this mind mean the the clauses thatwe put in for founders might apply to people other then David
level12alien has left the room.
hawkeyeop1: i have some pictures of various psi phi people
X1M43: Who brought cameras to the end-of-semester meetings?
OCN InHouseGeek: evil idea here, if this scrapbook thing gets done, how about a committee or duty for an officer to take photos at events in the future?
Xeen the Paladin: Hmm, I have a bunch of the many Geeks with whom I hang. Psi Phi must be in a few of them
Xeen the Paladin: Interesting, who do we sucker into it?
X1M43: OCN, brilliantly evil.
RayKremer8374: Make the constable do it. "Survailance photos"
OCN InHouseGeek: good one
X1M43: I like it.
RayKremer8374: <- original constable
X1M43: Was there a bapper from the very beginning?
Xeen the Paladin: Someone who'll be there for a while, someone who has already revealed that they have a camera
Xeen the Paladin: Hmm, this sounds me-ish
Psi Phi Org: I think photos are a good thing to have.
X1M43: Indeed.
OCN InHouseGeek: does amazon.com sell disposable cameras :P
Psi Phi Org: I think in some clubs it would fall to a Historian officer.
hawkeyeop1: maybe get an official psi phi camera
Xeen the Paladin: Walgreens does
hawkeyeop1: well yes but constable is the closest thing we have
Xeen the Paladin: Anyone have one they could donate?
Psi Phi Org: Amazon.com sells real cameras. Possibly they sell disposables, too.
X1M43: Maybe we should form a Ministry of Truth for this.
hawkeyeop1: yes but it doesn't work.. makes a great paper wegiht though
RayKremer8374: Since the constable is a gag position anyway, giving him a job wouldn't do any harm
Xeen the Paladin: good point
hawkeyeop1: yeah with kenny gone the duties have gotten significantly easier
RayKremer8374: LOL
OCN InHouseGeek: does the school yearbook people have group photos of psi phi over the years?
X1M43: Alas! But I am late. I have to go. Nice meeting all of you, and I hope to see you at the reunion.
X1M43 has left the room.
Psi Phi Org: I think the yearbook has taken photos of us maybe three times over the years.
Psi Phi Org: Someone should check with them to see if they have copies we could use.
hawkeyeop1: kaergard is on the staff
hawkeyeop1: he can probably do that for us
Psi Phi Org: Excellent.
OCN InHouseGeek: isn't kaergard in everything, lol
Psi Phi Org: :-)
hawkeyeop1: any closer to figuring out a date?
Psi Phi Org: Uh, no, not really.
Xeen the Paladin: I have a date
Xeen the Paladin: oh wait, nevermind
Psi Phi Org: Congratulations.
Psi Phi Org: :-)
Xeen the Paladin: heh
RayKremer8374: What are we aiming for, start of the fall semester so that folks aren't too busy?
OCN InHouseGeek: is ryan going to join in the chat? I noticed he does not have an away message up right now
Psi Phi Org: Constitution was signed September 13, 1994. First official meeting was October 5, 1994.
rwoods81 has entered the room.
rwoods81: Greetings
Psi Phi Org: Ah, just invited him. And here he is.
OCN InHouseGeek: question answered :P
Psi Phi Org: To repeat: Constitution was signed September 13, 1994. First official meeting was October 5, 1994.
rwoods81: I apologize for my tardiness, you can blame it all on my fraternity brothers
Xeen the Paladin: Hail Ryan
Xeen the Paladin: Shall we tar and feather them?
RayKremer8374: I generally blame everything on fraternities
RayKremer8374: :-P
Psi Phi Org: So sometime between those two dates, plus ten years, would be ideal for the Reunion.
OCN InHouseGeek: I generally blame Canada but ok fraternities work
rwoods81: I will keep those dates in mind for getting a room
Xeen the Paladin: Unblame Canada or there shall be smiting
Psi Phi Org: I blame Tahiti.
Psi Phi Org: I figure everybody loves Tahiti so much, they can accept a little blame now and again.
rwoods81: I will also see where they fall in relationship to Homecoming and Fall Break
OCN InHouseGeek: just quoting some south park 8)
hawkeyeop1: don't make it too early.. i do want to leave this campus before i return to it
Xeen the Paladin: We all approve of that, but I'm still free to take mock offense
RayKremer8374: It would almost be appropriate to do it near homecoming for anybody who might want to attend that too
RayKremer8374: Though that wouldn't be me
Xeen the Paladin: Homecoming is when again?
Psi Phi Org: Fall recess is October 9-12 (Saturday through Tuesday).
rwoods81: I will keep that in mind however holding the reunion near homecoming could make getting a room difficult
RayKremer8374: True
Psi Phi Org: October 2-5, 2003 was Homecoming. 2004 Homecoming has not yet been added to the Bradley schedule.
RayKremer8374: Then again since we're talking about geeks here, I doubt very many care about homecoming
Xeen the Paladin: Who comes home anyway?
Psi Phi Org: Hopefully all of the Psi Phi'ers who have left will come home to Sector 001. :-)
RayKremer8374: Homecoming = allumni please visit and get nostalgic for college so you'll give us money
RayKremer8374: Me, I just want an excuse to visit campus to see the remade Olin hall
Xeen the Paladin: Ah, that sounds deceptive and manipulative
Xeen the Paladin: So I'm all for it
Psi Phi Org: Of course, Psi Phi doesn't have the same philosophy. Reunion = alumni please visit and get nostalgic for Psi Phi and we'll give you stuff.
Psi Phi Org: :-)
hawkeyeop1: i like that better
hawkeyeop1: all money should be sent directly to mcs (over $5 in the treasury now)
RayKremer8374: Well of course. Psi Phi has never had to beg for money anyway (thanks to Dave)
Psi Phi Org: Up to $1k now, and counting.
RayKremer8374: NICE
OCN InHouseGeek: idea for reunion, have a computer in the room with one of these chat rooms so that people that can not be at the reunion in person can be there via AIM
Xeen the Paladin: That I favor even more, but as I was elected under the "Behave as a Ferengi" Campaign. I must object to giving things away for free
Psi Phi Org: Of course, probably a nice chunk of that will go to the Reunion.
Psi Phi Org: Ooh, that's a good idea.
rwoods81: The only problem with holding the reunion around homecoming is the space issue as the university can cancel room reservations for their events
Xeen the Paladin: I don't mean it, but the objection must be made
Xeen the Paladin: Ooh, that's bad
RayKremer8374: Screw homecoming then
rwoods81: I'm now thinking early Sept. before it starts or waiting until later in October after everything has passed
hawkeyeop1: plus hotels would probably be harder to come by
Psi Phi Org: This is also true.
Psi Phi Org: Maybe mid-September.
rwoods81: Waiting would also give next semester's officers and committees time to prepare.
RayKremer8374: Early is better, late october means current members are in the middle of midterms etc.
hawkeyeop1: but it also means they get a break in mid semester
Psi Phi Org: Classes begin August 25, 2004.
Psi Phi Org: First new member meeting then would be September 1.
rwoods81: September would mean only a week or two or prep time
rwoods81: of prep time
Psi Phi Org: If we looked at, say, September 18, that would give us a couple weeks.
rwoods81: That's an option
Psi Phi Org: Hopefully we'll have most stuff planned already. We might be able to continue some planning over the summer.
hawkeyeop1: i'd go with late oct personally (assuming ryan does not agree with me) this of course is also contingent on when we can get a room
RayKremer8374: Besides, we're apparently doing a lot of the planning early *look around at reunion planning AIM chat*
hawkeyeop1: that is what this is...
Psi Phi Org: :-)
rwoods81: I agree with Joel (the world is ending)
RayKremer8374: Yes, when we can get a room is the overriding factor
Psi Phi Org: But if you agree with Joel, he will just change his mind.
hawkeyeop1: i disagree with me then
mouse 97 99 has entered the room.
mouse 97 99: greetings everyone!
Xeen the Paladin: Who be thou?
mouse 97 99: Becky
Psi Phi Org: Question: The policy about only allowing BU-catered food in the student center... does that extend to the quad outside?
mouse 97 99: :-) (otherwise known as Joelish's girlfriend)
hawkeyeop1: :-P
Xeen the Paladin: Ah
hawkeyeop1: no it doesn't
rwoods81: No, just BU facilities
mouse 97 99: O:-)
hawkeyeop1: and its an official policy.. does not mean it isn't easy to get around
Psi Phi Org: Ahh, so if we wanted external food, and if the weather cooperates, we could have something outside and we'd still be within the rules.
Xeen the Paladin: True, as with so many BU policies (see posting regulations)
rwoods81: As far as dates go, lets consider Sept. 18-19, 25-26 or Oct. 16-17, 23-24
mouse 97 99: it's hard to plan on the weather cooperating several months in advance however...
rwoods81: What do you think?
Psi Phi Org: Sounds good.
rwoods81: That will give me a frame of reference when I talk to Michelle Whitehead
RayKremer8374: What days of the week are those?
rwoods81: the SC manager
Psi Phi Org: True, re: weather, but we can plan on BU food and then if the weather is good, we can get some additional food (e.g. pizzas).
rwoods81: Sat-Sun
Xeen the Paladin: mmmm, pizza
hawkeyeop1: and lots of blue liquid...
Psi Phi Org: Andorian Ale!
RayKremer8374: Andorian ale?
mouse 97 99: <was just thinking that>
OCN InHouseGeek: does anyone know if other groups have done reunions
rwoods81: Not that I know of
hawkeyeop1: what do you mean by other groups?
Psi Phi Org: I figure the Romulans stole the Andorians' secret formula during the Romulan Wars, which is why it's known as Romulan Ale in later centuries.
Xeen the Paladin: I can say with absolute certainty that the Order of Xeen has not.
mouse 97 99: probably other student organizations.
mouse 97 99: LOL @ Xeen.
hawkeyeop1: fraternities do all the time...
RayKremer8374: There can't be two blue alien ales?
Psi Phi Org: No, it's against the Law of Conservation of Alcoholic Hues.
RayKremer8374: Ah.
Psi Phi Org: Besides, that would just be too ale-in.
RayKremer8374: ouch
Xeen the Paladin: Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters, yummy
rwoods81: Dave, that was worthy of Kenny
OCN InHouseGeek: was that the first pun of the night
Xeen the Paladin: Pi jokes as far as I know
mouse 97 99: it took almost an hour and a half for ONE pun?
RayKremer8374: It's... <examines bottle> It's... <smells it> It's green.
mouse 97 99: i'm dissipointed
Psi Phi Org: But the Pi jokes weren't puns. They were just jokes.
Psi Phi Org: (I think)
hawkeyeop1: shapes blast it i need shapes
Psi Phi Org: Well, there was the "r^2" vs. "are round" thing, but that's a classic.
Psi Phi Org: Square and round are shapes.
rwoods81: Mmmm....Pi..<drool/>
Psi Phi Org: Oh yes, Ray, you said you had a correction from last week's chat, about a mis-attributed quote source.
RayKremer8374: Yes, the blame for "better to be a geek than to be a greek" fall on me
RayKremer8374: I was kidding about it but it ended up on the shirt
RayKremer8374: after Dave shortened it
hawkeyeop1: i was more entertained when it was a greek's fault
Psi Phi Org: And it's become one of our most beloved slogans.
RayKremer8374: How did you guys come up with the "hug me..." one?
Psi Phi Org: One night we were standing around in the Student Center lobby after the meeting...
rwoods81: We recieved random hugs for wearing our shirts one night
hawkeyeop1: their were a couple girls who so enjoyed the psi phi shirts that a couple people were wearing that they hugged all who had one
Psi Phi Org: some girl came up to... who was it?... someone from the group, and said something like "you're one of those sci-fi geeks, aren't you?", and after receiving a response in the affirmative, hugged him.
OCN InHouseGeek: was it night still or was it technically morning at that point?
hawkeyeop1: i think was still night
hawkeyeop1: wasn't too long after a meeting
Psi Phi Org: I don't think we've ever stayed in the SC lobby past midnight.
Xeen the Paladin: fascinating, I get hugged regularly when I stand around in the student Center
Psi Phi Org: Or at least, I don't think I have, and I was there.
OCN InHouseGeek: it was a girl from the radio station I think
Xeen the Paladin: Usually the hours that Liz works there
mouse 97 99 has left the room.
Xeen the Paladin: Curious
hawkeyeop1: i was t-shirt chair at the time, and being that no one else was giving me any ideas, got hug me i'm a psi phi geek from the opinions in the room
hawkeyeop1: this was preliz
Psi Phi Org: ok
hawkeyeop1: i think it was a collective idea if i recall
rwoods81: That's the only shirt I don't have
hawkeyeop1: we just wanted more hugs...
rwoods81: For some reason it never did much for me
hawkeyeop1: that is the only shirt i do have
rwoods81: Maybe it was just Joel:-D
Xeen the Paladin: Those are nice, I don't have any Psi Phi T-shirts
Psi Phi Org: I don't think I've ever been hugged while wearing that shirt.
Psi Phi Org: Not even at the sci-fi convention in Indianapolis.
hawkeyeop1: awn
Xeen the Paladin: Aww
Psi Phi Org: Of course, that was probably 80% guys... maybe that had something to do with it.
rwoods81: I also don't have the very first one but I was still in high school at that time.
hawkeyeop1: at that point did you really want hugs
hawkeyeop1: excuses excuses
Psi Phi Org: Perhaps not.
Psi Phi Org: :-)
OCN InHouseGeek: I am still waiting for the shirt that has "www.psiphi.org/dvd" on it
hawkeyeop1: was one of the suggestions
Psi Phi Org: If it does, I think it should have either just "psiphi.org/dvd" or the complete URL, "http://www.psiphi.org/dvd/".
Psi Phi Org: Including trailing slash.
Psi Phi Org: Joel, what semester was the "Hug Me" thing?
Psi Phi Org: I'm checking the minutes to see if the story is recounted there.
Xeen the Paladin: I will say nothing for awhile as I will not actually be here, but rather I am gathering food.
Psi Phi Org: ok
RayKremer8374: That shirt was from the 01-02 year I think
Psi Phi Org: ok
hawkeyeop1: hug me was two years ago
Xeen the Paladin has left the room.
Psi Phi Org: October 24, 2001:
Psi Phi Org: After last week's meeting, people who saw our "Better Geek than Greek" t-shirts gave hugs to Chris J. and Ryan. This led to the suggestion of the phrase, "Hug me! I'm a sci-fi geek!" for a slogan.
RayKremer8374: Ah, the power of geek
Psi Phi Org: "Behold the power of geek" -- T-shirt idea.
RayKremer8374: There you go
OCN InHouseGeek: wow before I had to go by CJ in the minutes
Psi Phi Org: Yep.
rwoods81: To be completely honest, the whole geek idea doesn't work for me
OCN InHouseGeek: on the subject on minutes, will the 2002-2003 minutes ever have links?
rwoods81: As a science fiction club we should be fighting the stereotypes of sci fi fans
Psi Phi Org: But what if those stereotypes are true?
RayKremer8374: Embrace your geekood
RayKremer8374: geekhood
rwoods81: Maybe if we have a comm officer who knows the web
hawkeyeop1: ryan you are outnumbered by geeks
rwoods81: It's the same crap I get for being a wrestling fan, everyone thinks I'm redneck. We should try to change opinions
Psi Phi Org: Well, do you have any non-geeky ideas for shirts?
OCN InHouseGeek: would that be a WWF wrestling fan or a WWE wrestling fan?
rwoods81: Not at the moment
RayKremer8374: WWF. Go wrestling Pandas!
Psi Phi Org: :-)
rwoods81: I'm a aWWF fan who tolerates the WWE
OCN InHouseGeek: good answer
rwoods81: Those stupid pandas can......
hawkeyeop1: wrestle?
Psi Phi Org: :-P
RayKremer8374: LOL
OCN InHouseGeek: that would be a good shirt but not exactly psi phi
rwoods81: What's annoying is when they have to blur out the old WWF scratch logo on WWE TV
hawkeyeop1: shirt psi phi "we have more money then you"
rwoods81: That would work
Psi Phi Org: Then we can take a field trip to Alan Greenspan's house. :-)
rwoods81: Very subtle
Psi Phi Org: Oh, the thought came up last week: For those who will be flying, bussing, training, etc., we might want to see if any car rental places have group discounts.
Psi Phi Org: For those driving in, this will be less of an issue. :-)
RayKremer8374: Just rent one big van for everybody
hawkeyeop1: buy a psi phi van...
Psi Phi Org: Yeah, we can do that for $1000!
OCN InHouseGeek: as long as kaergard does not drive the van
Psi Phi Org: And why's that?
hawkeyeop1: paints a bradley van?
RayKremer8374: We shall call it: the shuttlecraft Gallileo
OCN InHouseGeek: I rode in a van to ISU when kaergard was driving, he has a slight lead foot
Psi Phi Org: Ahhh.
hawkeyeop1: hey atleast he didn't have smurf raps playing...
Psi Phi Org: Smurf raps?
rwoods81: Or polka
OCN InHouseGeek: that was a special mix for you joel
RayKremer8374: Smurf rap?
RayKremer8374: !
OCN InHouseGeek: kenny found the smurf rap while trying to find smurftastic
RayKremer8374: Andorian ale is made out of SMURFS! It's SMUUUUUUUUURFS!
Psi Phi Org: *pf, ch, pfpf ch* Papa, I say Papa Smurf -- Don't diss him, not on his turf! *pf, ch, pfpf ch*
rwoods81: check this out http://homepage.mac.com/evanbaumgardner/iMovieTheater6.html
Psi Phi Org: I've seen it.
Psi Phi Org: It c-c-c-crazy!
rwoods81: Bet you've never seen this http://cal.dioxide.net/media/mandc/
rwoods81: Very Disturbing
Psi Phi Org: Indeed.
rwoods81: They like their milk and cereal
Psi Phi Org: It seems to stop about 20 seconds in.
rwoods81: It runs all the way for me
Psi Phi Org: hmm
Psi Phi Org: Same thing happens if I try to view it in Media Player directly.
OCN InHouseGeek: well I have to go to work, bye
Psi Phi Org: I get the gist of it anyway.
Psi Phi Org: Okay, ttyl
rwoods81: This is why I stand by my arguement that Freshman need psychological help
Psi Phi Org: :-)
OCN InHouseGeek has left the room.
rwoods81: Hey Joel, When Xeen comes back want to play some Munchkin?
Psi Phi Org: So, what else, what else?
hawkeyeop1: not sure.. need to see how other plans turn out
RayKremer8374: Yay Munchkin!
Psi Phi Org: Or are we getting to the end of our useful discussion period?
RayKremer8374: Getting?
hawkeyeop1: when did it start?
Psi Phi Org: Getting and not later returning
Psi Phi Org: The shuttle Galileo thing was on-topic.
Psi Phi Org: But that was nearly 15 minutes ago.
Psi Phi Org: Which leads me to believe we may be running out of actual Psi Phi Reunion-y things to say.
RayKremer8374: Are we planning for the reunion to be like an all day event?
Psi Phi Org: Hey, there we go!
Psi Phi Org: Probably stuff going on all day, various events, maybe a game room, a lounge where people can chat, etc.
RayKremer8374: okay
Psi Phi Org: And a meeting, somewhat more formal, in the evening.
hawkeyeop1: always have the office to use for things too
rwoods81: I think we were planning for random/optional events for the day and a dinner/presentation later
Psi Phi Org: With dinner.
RayKremer8374: random/optional events are good
hawkeyeop1: dinner is good
rwoods81: Dinner is always good to you
Psi Phi Org: Sometimes dinner can be cruel.
Psi Phi Org: Especially if your dinner disagrees with you.
rwoods81: Like Nacho Bar
RayKremer8374: Never talk politics with your dinner
rwoods81: Actually it's cruel to my roomate
Psi Phi Org: Resolve: Dinner should be eaten, not heard.
Psi Phi Org: I'll take pro, dinner will take con.
rwoods81: My roomate actually had to leave the room once
rwoods81: Should I really brag about that or hang my head in embarasment
Psi Phi Org: A little from column A, and a little from column B.
RayKremer8374: It's quiet in here... too quiet!
RayKremer8374: *killed by sudden machine gun fire*
Psi Phi Org: I'm hunting wabbits.
Psi Phi Org: Oops.
rwoods81: I'm thinking about milk and cereal
Psi Phi Org: Me too.
rwoods81: That song sticks with you
rwoods81: Dave, that could be you and me at the reunion talent show
Psi Phi Org: *bursts out laughing*
hawkeyeop1: ray can i borrow that machine gun
RayKremer8374: o_O
rwoods81: Aww, I don't think Joel liked it
rwoods81: He could sing back-up
hawkeyeop1: i do i do.. now hold still
Psi Phi Org: Do the "ooooh" part
RayKremer8374: Okay Dave, go ahead and put this chat session out of misery.
Psi Phi Org: *bam*
rwoods81: Joel, keep Munchkin in mind
Psi Phi Org: I hereby call this meeting to a close.
RayKremer8374: 6:10 Central
RayKremer8374: yeepong
Psi Phi Org: :-)
rwoods81: Cereal and Milk---Signing Off
hawkeyeop1: byes.. and its yeeeipong but avoid using it at all costs
hawkeyeop1 has left the room.
RayKremer8374 has left the room.
rwoods81 has left the room.
