Topics of the day: Illness, Legos, cleaning, and ramps. . .
.
I'm feeling much better now. I've still got a bit of a cough (which sounds worse than it feels), but other than that, everything seems to be in working order.
Upgrade 74 seems to have made significant progress lately. The three remaining ramps on Gale Ave. (two of which have been closed since April 22 of this year; the other one of which has been closed since July 21 of
last year, and which was originally supposed to re-open in November 2003) look like they've very close to re-opening, and I wouldn't be surprised if the two rebuilt lanes on the bridge open in the next couple weeks, making it two lanes in each direction. Also, the new northbound lanes on the University St. bridge opened this morning (or possibly over the weekend), so now the street is back to two lanes in each direction, with an added big green median.
Amazon.com had a very nice sale last week on
Lego sets... buy two, get one free. Wanting to get the most bang for my buck, I got the three most expensive sets that I don't have yet:
Star Wars: Cloud City ($99.99),
Star Wars: Millennium Falcon ($99.99), and
Harry Potter: Motorized Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade Station ($119.99). Cloud City arrived today, and I spent the better part of the evening putting it together. It's a great set, with some clever little effects.
The only problem with the set is that one of the pieces (a 1x6 light yellow plate) was either smushed, or melted and rehardened, and doesn't fit where it's supposed to go. I've got replacement parts (at least that size and shape, if not necessarily that color), but now I'm wondering what I should do with the deformed piece. I'm sure I'll be able to find a good use for it in some other project.
And I've been doing some more cleaning... the greater part of this being taking all of the empty Amazon boxes from around the house and putting them in what used to be Aaron's half of the basement. This has had a nice side-effect, in that Patches now has a nice maze to search through and rest in.

You like LEGO? Wow! I haven't even started on the 'Harry Potter 3' sets yet. Heck, I still have to finish the 'Orient Expedition' collection!
