+ 2 - 4 | § Cats and Moves

I've let a few topics go by without proper follow-up, so here are a few recent and not-so-recent things that have happened.

Re: people moving in and out of the house:
* Dan (my brother) did not move in, as we had at one time discussed; he is in Bloomington, still living with Dad for now.
* Neil (Josh's friend) got some stuff moved in, but then decided to move to California instead of staying in Peoria. I guess it's something he'd been considering for a while.
* Joe (from Psi Phi) remains in the house, still in the TV side of the basement. Presumably at some point he will be moving to the front bedroom upstairs, if I ever get it cleaned up.
* Josh (my boyfriend) is currently staying at my mom's house, helping her with Jerry until the end, which I think everyone suspects will be sooner than the 4-6 months predicted by doctors.

Re: cats:
* Patches I (my mortgaged cat, who came with a nice house she lets me use) has been improving much in the past couple of months. She's eating her food pretty consistently, though she still throws up every once in a while. She is still segregated from genpop in my bedroom.
* Patches II (aka "the tripod") and Ronnie (who doesn't have a clever nickname) are doing well.
* Nancy and Grace (the two new cats who are not named after the CNN anchor of their combined names) just got spayed, and Nancy had some dental work. They need to go back to the vet next Monday to get the sutures removed. Since Ronnie didn't have to do that, I guess the female procedure is more invasive than the male... which makes sense, anatomically.

+ 1 - 4 | § Chaos

My life is not going so well right now: Sleep, work, and family are all in chaos. It's developed over the past week or so. . . (more)

+ 3 - 3 | § The Hunchback of Outsourced Names

When I called a 1-800 customer service line last night, I spoke to a nice man who apparently works for a firm using the Alien Nation style of assigning "American-sounding" aliases. "Hello, this is Victor Hugo, how may I help you today?", he asked in an accent which clearly indicated he is from India.

I was amused. :-)

+ 2 - 4 | § Valentine

Although it looked iffy for a while, my Valentine's Day ended well.

More on this later.

+ 2 - 5 | § A Quote from the Gipper

"Whatever else history may say about me when I'm gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty's lamp guiding your steps and opportunity's arm steadying your way."

-- Ronald Reagan, born February 6, 1911. Today would be his 95th birthday.

+ 2 - 6 | § Things to do this weekend

I need to get some stuff done this weekend; in alphabetical order:

Update 2/6: Marked items done on Saturday/Sunday; re-prioritized and re-sorted remaining items; they're no longer as much in alphabetical order.

Weekend
[X] Build penultimate bookshelf (that should hold about all of what I have in the house now, but I have one more I can put together later)
[X] Catalogue more books and shelve them (after finishing bookshelf)
[X] Clip coupons
[X] Finish setting up online bill-pay for mom
[X] Go grocery shopping (after clipping coupons)
[X-whites] Laundry -- whites and colors (I'm usually against segregation, but for laundry I go for "separate but equal")
[X-partial] Watch Super Bowl commercials (I don't know which teams are playing)

Monday
[X] Call other bank to get info on account I didn't know I had until I got a 1099-INT for it
[X-got info] Change cell phone calling plan
[X] Mail items to Josh
[X] Mail penultimate payment to electrician for work from last summer

Tuesday+
* Modify automobile insurance coverage (Monday)
* Update Psi Phi database of upcoming 2006 and 2007 books (Monday)
* Change litter boxes (all five of them) (by Tuesday)
* Wash dishes (Tuesday)
* Call bank on Saturday morning to ask about safe deposit box (next Saturday)
* Get oil changed in car (next Saturday)
* Compare DVDs on the shelves to my database; delete Josh's, and add any missing ones (whenever)
* Sort piles of mail into different piles (whenever)
* Update rotating budget, to coördinate monthly expenses and biweekly paycheck into stable cycle (whenever)
* Write blog entry about frustrations with my printer (folks at Wednesday's Psi Phi meeting got the short version of it) (whenever)
