+ 2 - 2 | § ¶Spam, spam, spam, spam...
Over the past week, I've deleted over 400 comment spam messages from this blog. As a result, the comments area is mostly blank. In the past, the spammers were at least nice enough to only try one or two messages at a time, but now they come in butsts of fifty or sixty within just a few seconds, which means all of the "Most recent comments" are from them, so when I delete them all, the "Most recent comments" is empty. This is most annoying.Perhaps I'll take a page out of the ComicBoards site and start using JavaScript in the posting thing. Or maybe I'll go another route. But I've got to do something to stay ahead of these jerks.

+ 4 - 0 | § ¶Updates: Rings, Belts, and Visits
I haven't updated in quite a while, so here's an overview of the recent and upcoming highlights...Josh and I exchanged rings on December 9th, in a quiet informal ceremony with two guests. Whether March 4th is still on for the big event with a minister, and with lots of friends and family present, is a matter of some debate (I say yes, he says no). We shall see.
I became a Six Sigma Green Belt on December 14th. Along with the certificate came an actual green belt. Pretty nifty.
I have had or will have three doctor visits, one appointment for labwork, and one dentist visit in the surrounding two weeks. So I am staying busy. Good news so far: my cholesterol level, which was low at my last visit a few months ago, has risen to better levels. My "good cholesterol" is still a bit low but making improvements, and my triglycerides have fallen from an elevated level to a normal one. The doctor had suggested what I considered drastic changes to my diet, such as eliminating all fried foods; instead, I just tried to reduce the amount of fried food
Saturday morning, Josh and I're going up to Creston, Iowa to visit my grandmother and great-great-aunt. We'll be staying for Christmas (Sunday), and coming back Monday afternoon.
Joe will be moving out at the end of January.

+ 1 - 3 | § ¶Psi Phi Elections for Spring 2006
Quickie version:Eric ("Xeen") ("Batman") is Captain (for the first time)
Jon is First Officer (for the first time)
Forrest is Comm. Officer (for the first time)
Elizabeth is Grand Nagus (for the second consecutive semester, and the third total semester)
David (I) is (am) Chief of Operations (for the continuation of the second non-consecutive time, and the twenty-second-and-a-halfth total semester)
Mike W. ("Anti-Mike") is Constable (for the first time)
So there are two carry-overs from this semester, and four new officers. Two of the new officers (Forrest and Anti-Mike) are freshmen, while the other two have each held office before, but not their current office (Eric had been Grand Nagus, and Jon had been Constable).
Here are the full instant-runoff ballot tallies. . . (more)

A couple of nights ago, I dreamt that I was watching the final episode of Tru Calling (which I now own, but haven't seen yet), except I was not so much watching it as living it. I got to do one of the whooshback sequences, and there was a surprising twist involving Tru's brother that, had the series continued, would have dramatically changed the direction of the show. But when I woke up, I forgot what the twist was. Rats.davidh
